Mare Fort – Director, People & Strategy

Mare Fort joined Action Against Hunger in July 2020 as the Director of People & Strategy. In her role, she leads works closely with the organization’s CEO on the strategic development and operational implementation of employee programs and services, and leadership development.

Originally from Peru, Ms. Fort brings almost 30 years of experience in the international development field, with growing responsibilities in areas such as program quality and impact, program operations, people, culture, and strategy development and execution. Ms. Fort worked at several organizations in human rights, social research, and academia before joining CARE, where she held several positions, including Global Senior Advisor for Knowledge Sharing and Global Talent Strategies, Deputy Regional Director Program quality for the Asia region, Regional Director for Latin America & the Caribbean, and as Vice President of People and Culture.

Ms. Fort earned her bachelor’s degree in Social Science with a major in Sociology from the Pontifical Catholic University in Peru (PUCP), and a master’s degree in Development Studies from Erasmus University’s Institute of Social Studies in The Netherlands.

She is based out of Action Against Hunger’s office in New York City.
