A race against time: Responding to COVID-19 in Somalia

Somalia

  • Population: 16.8 million
  • People in Need: 7.7 million

Our Impact

  • People Helped Last Year: 1,131,478

“We don’t fear like before,” says Dr. Hafsa Mohamed, who works in Mogadishu’s only COVID-19 quarantine hospital.

Action Against Hunger has helped Dr. Mohamed and her team by providing training, supplying PPE and other medical equipment, and paying for staff salaries. Our teams are working to establish new quarantine hospitals and spreading the word about health and hygiene among vulnerable populations — all while keeping our lifesaving hunger programs going strong.
