Ali came to Lebanon a year ago from Raqqa, Syria. He loves to study, especially Arabic and English. Schools in Syria were closed, and without paperwork, Ali’s mother couldn’t enroll him in school in Lebanon. Ali hopes he can continue his education soon.

Khitam is from Yabrud, Syria. She loves learning Arabic - her brothers taught her how to read the Koran. Her biggest wish is to go home to Syria. She was born there, but doesn't remember it: her family fled when she was very young.

Mahmoud loves sports and helping his parents. His father is disabled, so Mahmoud helps him sell small goods and fixes things in the family’s tent. He wants to become a teacher when he grows up, and his biggest wish is to help people with disabilities.

Jafar is a second-grader from Hama, Syria. He loves to study English. When he grows up, he wants to be a teacher and to invent new cars. His biggest wish is to return to Syria. He’s not fond of Lebanon because he wants to be with his relatives back home.

Sujood (left) and Mariam (right) are sisters from Hama. They love playing with toys and studying. Sujood, the oldest, is in second grade and wants to be a nurse. Mariam, the middle sister, likes to study English. Her favorite food is kidneys with yogurt.

Mohammad loves to draw and build. He dreams of being an engineer or an artist when he grows up. He doesn’t have a notebook to draw in at home, so he draws a lot at school. He and his friends play football and do push-ups – they all have big muscles now.

Mona loves to study and she draws every day – her favorite things to draw are houses and roses. She wants to be a pediatrician or an artist when she grows up. If she had one wish, it would be to go back home to Syria, which she has only seen in pictures.

Yousef loves karate and trains every day. In school, he likes studying Arabic. His favorite food are French fries with cheese and strawberry ice cream. Yousef wants to become a lawyer, so he can defend the rights of people in his camp and in his country.
