The State of Hunger in the Philippines

Climate shocks, economic inequality, and conflict drive hunger in the Philippines. An archipelago of over 7,600 islands, this South Asian country is highly vulnerable to frequent natural disasters, such as typhoons and earthquakes. For several decades, conflict on the island of Mindanao has caused widespread displacement and humanitarian needs.

How We're Helping in the Philippines

Action Against Hunger partners with communities in the Philippines to:

  • diversify their livelihoods
  • improve their health and nutrition
  • support people who have been displaced by climate shocks and conflicts
  • build resiliency to disaster
  • increase access to clean water, safe sanitation, and good hygiene
Action Against Hunger teaches school children about the importance of washing their hands and other healthy hygiene habits.
