About David Blanc

David Blanc, Program Director

As Program Director for Action Against Hunger – USA, David Blanc has chief responsibility for managing the field operations of humanitarian relief programs in six countries, including D.R. Congo, South Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Pakistan, and Tajikistan. Mr. Blanc began with Action Against Hunger in 1995 as a program manager in Armenia. He has held field assignments in Sudan, Uganda, Myanmar, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he served as Head of Mission. After serving as Desk Officer at the New York Headquarters, he subsequently was promoted to lead the department in his current position as Director of Operations. Most recently, Mr. Blanc worked closely with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation in shaping the Global Water Initiative, a visionary $150 million, 10 year initiative designed to help some of the world’s poorest and most vulnerable communities in 13 countries across Africa and Central America.

Mr. Blanc holds a degree in engineering from the Water Sciences and Technologies School at Montpellier University in France. He is a contributor to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Populations at Risk (Paris: Hermann Editeurs des Sciences et des Arts, 2005). Prior to Action Against Hunger, he worked as a researcher for Hydraulics Research Ltd. (Wallingford - UK) and Anjou Recherche (Rungis - France).
