ACF Aid Reaches Thousands of Earthquake Survivors in Haiti

Meeting Urgent Needs of Women with Young Children in Haiti

Amidst the camps for earthquake survivors in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Action Against Hunger | ACF-International is establishing multiple centers specifically designed to provide a range of services to mothers with young children, including a safe environment for breastfeeding, as well as medical, nutritional, and psychological support. Four makeshift tents are already operational, and by the time the program is completed, some 5,000 mothers and their infants will receive this specialized assistance.

Combating Malnutrition in Rural Communities

Esther Wamono, a Nutrition Surveillance Officer, joined Action Against Hunger in the Karamoja region of northeastern Uganda in November. Extreme Food Insecurity Surfaces in Guatemala

CHIQUIMULA, GUATEMALA—Surveys carried out by Action Against Hunger | ACF International along the Guatemalan border with Honduras show widespread food insecurity and high levels of malnutrition in a region buffeted by the global recession and poor rainfalls. Nutrition Emergency Declared in Sierra Leone

MOYAMBA, SIERRA LEONE—Action Against Hunger | ACF International has launched an emergency response to treat more than 600 young children who have been diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition in the Moyamba district of southern Sierra Leone. A recent nutritional survey carried out by the global humanitarian organization reveals that 3.8 percent of children in the region suffer from the life-threatening condition.
