Nutrition

Action Against Hunger’s methods for identifying and rescuing populations afflicted with acute malnutrition are internationally renowned, having pioneered revolutionary nutrition products and field tested treatment protocols that have become industry standards.

From rural mountain villages to the confines of refugee camps to ethnically divided cities, Action Against Hunger treats and prevents malnutrition in over 40 countries around the world. Our programs are launched most often during times of crisis and focus on the most vulnerable, including young children and women who are pregnant or nursing.

Interactions of: Malnutrition, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Infections

Drinking water, and more generally "domestic" water (including water necessary for hygiene and sanitation practices), is often a source of disease because of its poor quality (it can contain bacteria, viruses, parasites as well as chemical agents) and its scarcity. Inadequate sanitary conditions lead to the death of 1.5 million children each year worldwide, with 88% of these deaths due to diarrhoea.

Action Against Hunger Goes Hollywood!

Two Degrees LogoAs part of the launch of our new and exciting partnership with Two Degrees Food, we brought our message about ending deadly malnutrition to Los Angeles for the celeb-studded American Music Awards. Two Degrees’ vegan, gluten-free bars—available nationwide at Whole Foods supermarkets—not only taste fantastic, they’re also the backbone of an incredible “one-to-one” program. For every bar purchased, the company donates one nutrition pack (like Plumpy'nut) to organizations like us.

Evaluation Policy Guideline: Enhancing Organisational Practice through an Integrated Evaluations, Learning & Accountability Framework

The ACF Evaluation Policy seeks to maximise the use of evaluations findings at all levels of ACF, including field, HQ and the (ACF) International Network as a whole. The Policy is also desgined to ensure greater consistency and quality across individual evaluations by avoiding the constant redesign of evaluative frameworks, ensuring common standards across ACF programmes.
