Post-Earthquake Indonesia: ACF Team Assessing Needs

Following the earthquake that struck the Indonesian provinces of Java Central and Yogyakarta, Action Against Hunger/Action Contre la Faim (ACF) International Network dispatched a team of emergency specialists, one of whom arrived on the day of the tragedy.

Alarming Malnutrition Rates In Northwestern Nepal

The northwest of Nepal has been affected by drought for more than six months. This has led to a crisis among people living in isolated areas of the region. A one-month assessment in the region by teams from Action Against Hunger (also known as Action contre la Faim or ACF) found that more than 85% of the population has used up all its stores of food. In addition, severe malnutrition rates among children younger than five years of age are higher than in Darfur.

Help Comes to Victims of Bolivian Floods

In the next few hours, international aid organization Action Against Hunger (ACF) will send experts in water, nutrition, and logistics to Bolivia to assure that approximately 20,000 flood victims will have clean water, food, and basic sanitation. Aid Paralyzed by Lack of Air Transportation in Pakistan

The international aid organization Action Against Hunger (also known as Action contre la Faim or ACF) issued an urgent warning today that without significant international assistance there will be no way to meet all of the needs of the people in Pakistan.

Although the organization has been able to deliver some supplies, ACF emphasized that the lack of sufficient transportation has become a potentially lethal impediment to relief efforts in Pakistan.

Planeloads of Emergency Supplies Sent to Guatemala

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Stan, humanitarian aid organization Action Against Hunger has sent the first of two plane-loads of emergency supplies from Spain to San Marcos, Guatemala. This shipment, which arrived on Monday, contained 6 tons of water and sanitation equipment including 10 water tanks, 100 kilograms of water-treatment chemicals, four electric generators and four water pumps.
