Nutritional Crisis Now Acute: Malnutrition Spikes in Northern Kenya

International humanitarian organizations Action Against Hunger | ACF International, Islamic Relief (IR), and Save the Children (SC-UK) have issued a joint appeal for urgent action to contain and reverse the alarming rates of acute malnutrition uncovered in Kenya’s northeastern province.

Action Against Hunger Expelled from Darfur along with Nine Other Aid Groups

On Wednesday, March 4th, authorities in northern Sudan ordered the global humanitarian organization ACF International to leave Darfur along with nine other international aid organizations. Displaced Georgian Families Face An Uncertain Future After Conflict

Madrid, Spain—Pasha Pakeliana, 63, lives in Georgia’s Kodori Valley in Abkhazia and is no stranger to hardship. Like her fellow Georgians, this is not the first time she and her family have had to flee their homes as a result of conflict. "We live in Abkhazia but I know that if I return, I’ll never be able to leave again," states Pasha who now sleeps on a mattress on the floor, in very poor hygienic conditions, in one of the shelters of Kutaisi, west of Georgia.

With an estimated 20,000 people still displaced in the aftermath of the recent Georgian conflict, the humanitarian aid organization Action Against Hunger | ACF International has initiated an emergency intervention in Tbilisi. In addition to poor hygienic conditions in shelters, food is scarce and expensive. "In Tbilisi, the price of staple foods such as flour and sugar continues to rise," says Vincent Stehli, desk officer for Action Against Hunger in Caucasus.
