Howard G. Buffett Foundation

The Howard G. Buffett Foundation selected Action Against Hunger as one of seven partners—including such colleague organizations as CARE, Catholic Relief Services, and Oxfam America—in the Global Water Initiative. This ten-year, $150 million project supports water resources management in countries across Africa and Central America.

Uganda

In 2011, some five years after the collapse of the Lord’s Resistance Army insurgency, Uganda has reinforced stability in its troubled North, bringing 20+ years of insecurity and displacement to a close. Action Against Hunger has provided a range of support to the 1.8 million people leaving the displacement camps to return to their ancestral homes—a massive migration that has multiplied the needs for clean water, sanitation, and agricultural and livelihood support.

Global Water Initiative Created in Response to World Water Crisis

New York, NY—A new partnership has been launched to address the declining state of the world’s fresh water supply and the lack of access to clean water services by the world’s poorest people. The Global Water Initiative (GWI) brings together a group of seven leading international NGOs, including Action Against Hunger | ACF International, CARE, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), The World Conservation Union (IUCN), International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), Oxfam America and SOS Sahel – UK.
