Implementing cash-based interventions: A guideline for aid workers (French)

A growing body of experience and literature shows an interest in alternatives to in-kind distributions, where people are given cash or vouchers instead, which they use to acquire the items they need. In this manual, these are broadly called "cash-based interventions". ACF has been implementing food security projects for more than 25 years and have included some cash-based interventions but these have been limited in number relative to other food security interventions. The purpose of this module is to provide ACF with a practical guide for implementing cash-based interventions.

Identification of vulnerable people in urban environments: Assessment of sustainable livelihoods and urban vulnerabilities (French)

This methodological guide is designed for use by field practitioners, and was conceived in response to several problems: proliferation of food crises in urban environments; difficulty targeting the most vulnerable population among all those affected by urban poverty; breakdown of social structures; and official betrayal or non recognition of disaffected neighborhoods.

Income generating activities: A key concept in sustainable food security (French)

Income generation can help to overcome food insecurity when economic factors are a fundamental cause of food insecurity and when food is available in local markets but lack of money is the main difficulty faced by the vulnerable population. This book is about income generating activities, and the principles and methodologies of this line of intervention that the ACF food security teams have been developing during the last few years on the field.

Introduction to food security intervention principles (French)

ACF's commitment to improve food security translates into programmes for food and economic support, water supply, sanitation, health and nutrition education, hygiene promotion and psychosocial support, which have a short-term focus while also helping the populations move towards self-sufficiency. Food security and livelihood programmes are an important part of ACF's varied response to this plague and this booklet covers some of the action in this area.
