In response to the flooding that occurred in Cotabato City and Maguindanao in July 2011, USAID/OFDA partnered with Action Against Hunger (ACF) with a grant of $100,000. This enabled ACF to distribute hygiene kits and repair water sources to more than 12,500 persons.

"The Action Contra la Faim or Action Against Hunger-Agencia Española Cooperacion International Para El Desarrolllo (ACF-AECID), an international non-profit organization, has recently turned-over all its projects in five municipalities of Surigao del Sur including this city.

“'KALAPA-IT,' a term in the local dialect in Surigao del Sur which means “bitter,” is used by Panfilo Otacan to describe what how life used to be for his family prior to the Action Contra la Faim or Action Against Hunger (ACF) project in the area.

"With the project, Pakwan’s community has been able to access medicines and basic commodities at cheaper price thru the realization of Botika ng Barangay (BnB) implementation by the Action Contre la Faim (ACF) or Action Against Hunger.

"A big number of household beneficiaries in the five municipalities and this city of Surigao del Sur started to benefit from the Action Contra la Faim (ACF), known as Action Against Hunger of the AECID-funded projects of the Spanish government."

"The Cash Learning Partnership, a consortium formed after the 2005 southeast Asia tsunami and whose Steering Committee includes Oxfam Great Britain, the British Red Cross, Save the Children, Action Against Hunger | ACF International and the Norwegian Refugee Council, is focused on improving the quality of programs whose approach includes the use of cash transfers whether in physical cash, paper voucher or digital currency form, such as through prepaid cards."
