MYANMAR: Agencies optimistic about water supplies

“The possibility of water shortages in the coming dry season has been reduced to the barest minimum,” Morie Amadu, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) adviser for the Nargis response programme with Action against Hunger (ACF) in Myanmar, echoed.

Cartier Shines

Renowned luxury jeweler Cartier recently partnered with Action Against Hunger on two successful initiatives—an international "Love" campaign featuring ACF as its charity partner, and a holiday giving campaign among US employees that raised funds for ACF’s lifesaving programs.

The "Love" campaign reinforced Cartier’s long standing commitment to children’s charities, raising funds to support malnourished children in North Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma).

Myanmar: Nutrition Assessment Points to Looming Crisis in Bogalay

While continuing to distribute aid supplies to the survivors of Cyclone Nargis, Action Against Hunger/ ACF-USA teams in Myanmar have also carried out a needs assessment in the Bogalay region, one of the worst hit areas. The survey, which was carried out last week, found that the situation in the Bogalay district is extremely alarming, both in the immediate and medium term.

French humanitarian aid to Burma

"...The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs dispatched a chartered plane today carrying 40 tons of emergency supplies (water purification tablets and emergency food) from the NGO Action Against Hunger (ACF) for the victims of Cyclone Nargis. The aircraft took off from the airport at Vatry with permission to land in Burma where it will arrive in the night (6:15 a.m. local time). These supplies will be received and handled on the spot by ACF teams working in Burma. ..."
