Bolivia

Bolivia is home to some of the highest poverty rates in all of South America, with over 75% of Bolivian households lacking regular access to basic foods -- conditions that are particularly acute among rural and indigenous communities. In response to this long-standing reality, the Bolivian government instituted a national Zero Malnutrition Program in 2006 that prioritized tackling undernutrition amongst communities experiencing high rates of food insecurity.

ACF Emergency Team Responds to Floods In Ecuador

The phenomenon known as La Niña has left 20 dead in Ecuador, 61 in Bolivia and 13 in Peru, according to government sources in those countries. For several weeks Action Against Hunger / Action Contre la Faim (ACF) has been working in the Santa Cruz department of Bolivia helping flood victims.

Help Comes to Victims of Bolivian Floods

In the next few hours, international aid organization Action Against Hunger (ACF) will send experts in water, nutrition, and logistics to Bolivia to assure that approximately 20,000 flood victims will have clean water, food, and basic sanitation. Accompanying the experts will be a shipment of humanitarian aid including five emergency food drops, two water pumps, and water purification tablets.
