Second Annual Lose For Good Campaigns Kicks Off

For the second consecutive year, Action Against Hunger is teaming up with Weight Watchers, a leader in weight management services, for the Lose For Good campaign. Building on last year’s successes, the 2009 campaign will once again raise vital funds for Action Against Hunger’s life-saving humanitarian programs around the world.

Turning Wine Into Water

London, UK—Culinary luminaries Heston Blumenthal, Angela Hartnett, Fergus Henderson and Herbert Berger are combining their formidable forces this October to host the celebrated Action Against Hunger Fine Wine Auction and Dinner 2009.

Fergus Henderson, Chef Patron of Michelin-starred St John, has gamely posed naked in a wine-filled bath at the luxury Sanctum Soho Hotel, to capture the event’s theme of ‘turning wine into water’; illustrating that all funds raised from the event will help Action Against Hunger fight hunger and malnutrition worldwide.

Hunger Awareness Rumbles Through a Town Near You

This spring, PRISM International, a not-for-profit trade association for the commercial information management industry, used a cross-country motorcycle trek to raise awareness and vital funding for the fight against malnutrition. The trip is the first charitable activity for the association and will be part of PRISMgives, a broader philanthropic effort. "The magnitude of energy and enthusiasm for PRISMgives was overwhelming—we just had to come up with a kick-off activity that was equally as exciting," according to PRISMgives project coordinator, Tom Adams.

Kiddy Clothier Estella Takes on Childhood Hunger

As the global hunger crisis crescendoed last summer, leading children’s clothier Estella embarked on a retail journey to help make hunger history. During a four month campaign beginning in September 2008, Estella donated $0.60 for every online transaction or in store purchase—the cost equivalent of a packet of Plumpy’nut, the life-saving Ready-To-Use-Food (RUF) used to save the lives of malnourished children.

Cartier Shines

Renowned luxury jeweler Cartier recently partnered with Action Against Hunger on two successful initiatives—an international "Love" campaign featuring ACF as its charity partner, and a holiday giving campaign among US employees that raised funds for ACF’s lifesaving programs.

The "Love" campaign reinforced Cartier’s long standing commitment to children’s charities, raising funds to support malnourished children in North Rakhine State, Myanmar (Burma).

Action Against Hunger A La Carte

Action Against Hunger’s popular Restaurants Against Hunger campaign celebrated its 8th year in 2008, partnering with food and beverage leaders to raise funds and awareness in the food-focused social environs of the Tri-State Area. Adding to the success of the event was Café Joul, a popular French bistro known for its mouth-watering foods and cozy atmosphere. Since June of last year, Café Joul has committed to donating $1.00 from sales of one of two popular items—their green salad and a chocolate mousse—to the Restaurants Against Hunger campaign.

PRISM Takes To The Open Road To End Malnutrition

This spring, PRISM International, a not-for-profit trade association for the commercial information management industry, is teaming up with Action Against Hunger to raise awareness about the effects of global malnutrition and the steps each of us can take to end this deadly disease.

New Weight Watchers® Campaign Fights Hunger Around the World

Weight Watchers, a leading provider of weight management services, has launched “Lose for Good,” a campaign that empowers Americans to improve their health through good nutrition while providing food for those less fortunate. Between September 7th and October 18th, Weight Watchers will donate the cost of one pound of food (up to one million dollars) for each pound their members lose. With programs fighting acute malnutrition in some 40 countries around the world, Action Against Hunger is proud to participate in “Lose for Good” as Weight Watchers international partner.

Leading Children’s Clothier Joins ACF to Fight Childhood Malnutrition

The humanitarian aid organization Action Against Hunger | ACF International has recently partnered with Estella, a leading retailer of designer children’s and baby clothes, who plans to donate one packet of “Plumpy’nut”—a hunger-fighting superfood—for every purchase made from the store during the upcoming Fall and Winter seasons. From September 2008 to January 2009, Estella will donate the monetary value of “1 bag of Plumpy’nut” ($0.60) per transaction.
