Local Cleveland Runner Going The Distance To End Hunger

After running 5K, 10K, half-marathon, and 25K distances, Tad Fry wanted to take his running to the next level by participating in his first full marathon. As Tad began his marathon preparation, he needed constant food and water to sustain his physical efforts. As he got further into the training and needed even more fuel, he experienced a renewed appreciation for food and water.

Cornell University Students Partner with ACF to Fight Global Hunger

Big Red Relief is a student organization at Cornell University devoted to promoting communal action for the good of mankind. Our organization began when Cornell students decided to throw a benefit concert for the victims of the 2005 South Asian Tsunami. Since then, the Big Red Relief Concert has become the largest annual fundraiser event at Cornell University.

Northern Illinois University Partners with ACF-USA to Fight Global Malnutritution

The Student Nursing Organization (SNO) at the Northern Illinois University has had a strong history of commitment to leadership, fellowship and social and professional growth. This year, SNO has added philanthropy to their list of commitments, partnering with Action Against Hunger to apply their passion for medicine and health in the fight against global hunger and malnutrition.

CPT Gregory T. Dalessio Memorial Run

On June 23, thirty year old Capt. Gregory T. Dalessio of Cherry Hill, New Jersey was killed on his second tour of duty in Iraq. Capt. Dalessio was loved by those who knew him and is said to have shone a light on all of their lives. For a man adored by his siblings and community, a 5K memorial walk/run is scheduled in his honor for December 6 at St. Peter Celestine Church in Cherry Hill. Proceeds will be donated to the “U2 One Campaign” of which Action Against Hunger is a partner and recipient.

Couple Plan 1,500 Mile Trek from Italy to Spain to Fight Global Hunger

In May of next year, Scott Zielke of Chicago, IL and Ashley Green, a native of Knoxville, TN, will begin a journey through three European countries in an effort to generate awareness and funds for Action Against Hunger/ Action Contre la Faim (ACF). This dedicated couple will set off from Rome, traversing the Via Francigena and then the Camino De Santiago toward Santiago de Compostela, Spain covering over 1,500 miles along the way.

A New Christmas Giving Tradition for the Lordeman Family

The Lordeman family’s Christmas gifts had changed over the years as the grand children got older. They had always been a family of list makers. If you didn’t get your wish list out by Thanksgiving you were nagged until you did. In recent years, most of the wish lists were being dominated by items such as donations to food banks, blood donations in the recipient’s name, or coupons for services – in other words, fewer and fewer commercial items were exchanged.

Cross-Country Inline Skater Reaches San Diego Destination

Twenty-one year old Jack Sisson recently completed an inline skating excursion across the country to promote Action Against Hunger’s life-saving programs, and to undertake a thrilling adventure. Setting off from Yorktown, VA on June 10th, Jack’s solo journey took him through 10 states and 5 sets of wheels, which had to be replaced when he wore through them.

Race Against Hunger Student Spotlight

Action Against Hunger inspired me to help out. We got pledges for the Race, which was sponsored through my school, The Ancona School. I felt proud to have participated in helping others.

Just Passing Through: Student Rollerblades Cross-Country for Global Hunger

Jack Sisson embarked on a cross-country excursion on June 10th, armed with nothing but the backpack on his back and the rollerblades on his feet. Inline skating from Yorktown, Virginia to San Francisco, California, Sisson is taking this three month sojourn from the day-to-day life of a Dartmouth junior to benefit the international humanitarian group Action Against Hunger /Action Contre la Faim (ACF).
