Fundraising With Action Against Hunger

We at Action Against Hunger | ACF International are excited for the recent launch of the My Action Against Hunger page on our website. This part of the site allows you to create a personalized page, as well as gain access to a Participant Center where you can email your friends and family to ask for donations, thank them, and keep track of your fundraising progress. This new section will help you create fundraising goals and then make reaching them easier.

Personal Fundraising: Finding Strength in Numbers

Jordan Dibb and Howard Webb have never met. Their homes are separated by almost two thousand miles, and they were born more than five decades apart. But their stories are remarkably similar. United by a common purpose, both are rallying their communities to help Haiti and get involved in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.

Howard Webb lives in Cottonwood, AZ with his wife, Carol. He’s retired now, but he’s far from idle.

"Any idea is possible. All you have to do is take the first step." —Jordan Dibb, Walking 1,800 miles for Haiti

Pennsylvania Church Helps Bring Clean Drinking Water to Thousands in D.R. Congo

After years of violent conflict and decades of neglect, much of the Democratic Republic of Congo lacks basic infrastructure, including water systems. Without access to clean water, thousands of Congolese children die every year from preventable water-related diseases like cholera, diarrhea, and dysentery. Action Against Hunger is working throughout the country to ensure that families in distress have sustainable access to clean drinking water.

1,800 Miles for Haiti

If a good, long walk can clear a person’s head, Jordan Dibb may soon have one of the clearest heads in the world. He’s getting ready to walk from Minneapolis to Miami to raise money for Action Against Hunger’s emergency relief efforts in Haiti.

Admission Possible

Admission Possible is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping promising high school students from low income communities prepare for and earn admission to college. Embarking on a Journey to End World Hunger

This past September, Alameda High School in California started a Hunger Awareness Leaders of Tomorrow (HALT) chapter at their school after Linh Phung, a Senior, came across the Action Against Hunger website.

“With the help of school announcements, our kind club sponsor Mr. Hardin and hours spent making posters to help publicize the club, our HALT chapter was finally up and running.

Online Community A-Twitter for Action Against Hunger

Even at a time when social networking sites are starting up and attracting users at an unprecedented rate, the emergence of Twitter stands alone as a web phenomenon.  Almost overnight, Twitter went from unknown to indispensible for millions of users with something to say. Action Against Hunger has used Twitter to keep our followers informed and involved virtually since its inception.  But while we’ve been tweeting for quite some time, the full potential of Twitter as a tool to connect people with their causes has only recently begun to show itself.

Marathon Runner Reflects on His Fundraising Experience

On May 17, 2009 Tad Fry’s decision to run the Cleveland Marathon came to fruition: it was finally race day. Through his training (physically, mentally, and nutritionally), Tad reinforced his appreciation for food and water and for the work of Action Against Hunger. His participation in our Athletes Against Hunger group allowed him to harness his dedication and enthusiasm to raise awareness and funds for Action Against Hunger’s life-saving work. After a successful event, Tad shared his story about the journey:

No Roll in the Park

This past summer, 21 year old Jack Sisson completed an inline skating excursion across the country to promote Action Against Hunger's life-saving programs. A Dartmouth '09 student, Sisson decided to break from the typical summer vacation to do something extraordinary: On June 10th, he set off on a 72-day journey from Yorktown, VA that took him through 10 states and 5 sets of in-line skate wheels.

The Youth Effect: Student Action Against Hunger

Students from all over the country have responded to global hunger’s growing prominence in the news—global food riots, the spike in food prices, and revised estimates that global hunger now affects 963 million people (up from 854 million a couple years ago). These headlines have moved America’s youth to take action in creative ways, whether forming service learning clubs at school, holding educational fundraisers such as ACF’s Fast for Awareness, or taking individual action to raise awareness and funds by skating across the U.S. for Action Against Hunger!
