Hunger thrives in times of crisis. Right now, nearly one in ten people around the world go to bed hungry each night. Around the world, from Afghanistan to Sudan, from Israel and Gaza to Ukraine, conflicts, natural disasters, climate shocks, and economic crises are making it harder for people to buy and grow food, access clean water, and feel safe in their homes.
On World Food Day, we shine a spotlight on food insecurity and the crises that fuel it . We share stories of hunger and suffering – but also stories of resilience, innovation, and hope. These are the stories that keep us going because even in the world’s most challenging contexts, we know that we can beat hunger.
Everyone – from government leaders, companies, farmers, scientists, health workers, community leaders, and you can get involved – because we can all play a role in helping to create a future where everyone has enough food to eat.
Please join us in learning, sharing, donating, and taking action to support communities in crisis.
Supporting Families in Crisis
At Action Against Hunger, we partner with people in crisis every day to tackle hunger. Our teams:
- Deliver humanitarian aid for families living in conflicts and those displaced by war and natural disasters.
- Reach communities hit hard by earthquakes and hurricanes with lifesaving supplies and support.
- Improve food security and help families cope with drought and floods through climate-smart agriculture techniques.
- Advocate for protection of civilians and aid workers, adherence to international humanitarian law, and peace.
- Train health workers and volunteers to stop malnutrition before it starts and to treat it when needed.
- Provide cash support, job training, and livelihoods support to help people in crisis survive and rebuild their lives.
