As tomorrow’s world leaders, you and your peers have the unique ability to be powerful agents of change. Young people are frequently underestimated, but with drive, determination and passion, you can make things happen—not just on a local level but across the globe. This is why Action Against Hunger is reaching out to youth all over the world to join a growing movement to fight global hunger.

Our Student Center website is designed for youth by youth. Here you can find information about global hunger; how hunger is affected by current events like the international financial and food crises; what young people across the nation are doing to fight global hunger; and how you and your peers can get involved.

Understanding Hunger

For the first time in history, there are now more than a billion people in the world that are undernourished. That means one out of every six people goes to bed hungry every single night. Even though this number seems overwhelming, we have the power to reverse this trend. We now have the tools and the knowledge to end global hunger, but before it can be eradicated, we need to raise awareness and educate the population about this crisis.

Our Understanding Hunger page will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of global hunger. We have designed factsheets that can be used for individualized learning or as an educational tool in classrooms or group settings. On this page you will also find links to websites that offer additional educational resources and activities to help you become an expert on global hunger in your community.

Taking Action Against Hunger

Help transform ideals into actions by joining the fight against hunger! On our Taking Action Against Hunger page you will find a plethora of options to help you raise awareness about global hunger. You will also find first-hand accounts of how youth across the nation have joined this movement.

Taking action is easy! Feel free to come up with your own unique ideas and share your experiences.

Contact our Student Outreach Fellow if you are interested in hosting an Action Against Hunger representative at your school. We would be happy to give a presentation, facilitate a panel discussion, and/or inform students about ways to get involved in the fight against global hunger.

Race Against Hunger

The 2009 Race Against Hunger brought together nearly 11,000 students from over 40 schools across the U.S. and Canada! This year, for the 3rd annual Race Against Hunger we are scaling up our efforts and reaching out to schools in over 30 states!

Send in your enrollment form today and inspire this generation of America's youth to become ambassadors of change!
