Charity: Water Partners with ACF to Deliver Clean Water

ACF launches partnership with Charity:Water to provide clean water in the D.R. Congo New York, NY — The international humanitarian organization Action Against Hunger / Action Contre la Faim (ACF) is pleased to announce a formal partnership with the New York-based nonprofit Charity: Water to rehabilitate a water distribution network in Fizi territory, South Kivu Province, of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Action Against Hunger’s partnership with Charity:Water aims to build local capacity for this community of 7,000. The $87,000 grant from Charity:Water includes training for 21 community-based Water Committees to oversee infrastructure maintenance and hygiene education—essential components for the successful delivery of clean drinking water and proper sanitation.

Through its community-centered approach, Action Against Hunger builds local capacity and harnesses a population’s participation, sense of ownership, energy and resources. By organizing and training community-based water committees, Action Against Hunger ensures local commitment to managing and maintaining the systems we rehabilitate and install. Access to clean water is essential, but only the cultivation of local know-how can ensure its sustainability.
