The Superstar Dinner Worth Flying Across The World

May 1, 2013
"The businessmen from Hong Kong had flown  to London specifically for this dinner. So they had high expectations as they took their seats in Old Billingsgate, the former fish market turned grand event space, for this year’s Relais & Chateaux  Diner des Grands Chefs on April 22. They had paid about $1000 a ticket for the third version of this dinner, first held in Paris and last year, New York, featuring the organization’s most celebrated chefs cooking in tandem with proceeds going to charity. It was a sellout, with 600 people in black tie and gowns, packing the correspondingly elegant hall decorated as a very large English vegetable garden...Ultimately, over 100,000 pounds were raised for the chosen charity Action Against Hunger working to combat childhood hunger around the world."
