'KALAPA-IT' No More After Implementation of ACF Program
“'KALAPA-IT,' a term in the local dialect in Surigao del Sur which means “bitter,” is used by Panfilo Otacan to describe what how life used to be for his family prior to the Action Contra la Faim or Action Against Hunger (ACF) project in the area.
Relevant, timely and localized trainings and other capability building interventions have been key to the project’s success in Barangay Calatngan. These, coupled with farm inputs like seeds and livestock as well as workable and sustainable linkages with service and resource providers, have enabled the farmers to significantly improve their farm production.
