He was worried about Haiti — so he went out for a little walk
"The Minneapolis resident completed the trip by his July 4 deadline, raising nearly $30,000 for the international organization Action Against Hunger. The group is helping survivors of the Jan. 12 Haitian earthquake, which killed 230,000 and left 700,000 homeless. Action Against Hunger has been working in Haiti since 1985.
Dibb went to "extraordinary lengths" to help earthquake survivors, said Susannah Masur, spokeswoman for Action Against Hunger. He also helped keep up publicity on the disaster by explaining his walk to people and attracting media coverage — at a time when the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico dominated the headlines. 'One thing that Jordan has done for us is keep the spotlight on Haiti,' Masur said. 'He was reminding people of that everyday. That's been equally crucial for us and Haitian earthquake survivors, as well. We're hoping to still keep the momentum going.'
