Job Objectives:
The Nutrition program aim to design projects in order to give adequate and quality access to treatment of acute malnutrition. It also works to offer a holistic approach to tackle underlying causes of malnutrition through close collaboration with Food Security/Livelihood and Water/Sanitation departments.
The actual main components of the nutrition program are:
• Access to treatment of acute malnutrition through feeding programs
• Community mobilisation
• Food Security assessment and monitoring
• Integrated nutrition surveillance (through anthropometric, coverage survey, sentinel site surveillance and KAP surveys)
• Capacity building of community and the Ministry of Health staff on management of acute malnutrition
• Advocacy and coordination of nutrition activities at district and national level in collaboration with partners at national and district level through active participation to Nutrition Technical Working Group (NTWG), District Steering Group (DSG) meetings, ASAL coordination meetings, and other relevant forums.
General objective:
The Medico-Nutritional Coordinator (CMN) is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and ensuring integration between ACF-USA nutrition programs, as well as liaising with various external partners on nutrition issues for Kenya.
Specific objectives:
• To oversee and ensure coordination/integration between all ACF-USA nutrition programs in Kenya.
• To oversee nutrition program managers and give technical support and analysis where necessary,
• To provide technical support and guidance within nutrition programs.
• To coordinate with nutrition cluster partners and donors for nutrition activities.
• To positively represent ACF-USA and ACF-USA interests to donors, partners and counterparts.
• To actively participate in the external coordination with nutrition partners and governmental bodies and to provide technical support and guidance in the nutrition sub-committee and cluster.
• To coordinate within ACF-USA team in collaboration with the assistant CMN.
• To ensure that reporting to ACF-USA Technical Advisor from the field and the coordination is timely provided and provide updates on the program to the line Manager when required.
• To ensure the reporting to donors and prepare for their (and other partners) visits to the field as required.
• To ensure compliance of programmes in terms of achieving objectives in current grants.
• To ensure information sharing and collaboration with the Livelihoods, Water and Sanitation programs to ensure an integrated approach.
• To propose strategies for both contexts those are coherent with the context and the humanitarian situations.
• To perform other duties as directed by line manager, Head of Mission.
Activities:

• To provide technical support and guidance within nutrition programs.
• To coordinate with nutrition cluster and other relevant partners for nutritional activities.
• To effectively represent ACF-USA and ACF-USA interests to donors, partners and counterparts.
• To actively participate in the external coordination with nutrition partners and governmental bodies and to provide technical support and guidance to the nutrition sub-committee and cluster.
• To coordinate within ACF-USA team in collaboration with the assistant CMN.
• Collaboration within ACF-USA mission team.
• Reporting.
Qualifications:
Education/specific degree/special skills:
Nutrition/Medical qualification
Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
Excellent written and public communication and negotiation skills
Able to adjust to a lifestyle of frequent travel on the field
Humanitarian field experience
At least one year in emergency nutritional programs
Previous experience in program planning and implementation in large scale surveillance projects.
Emergency Nutrition experience
Good managing and representation competencies
Nutrition/Medical qualification
Excellent data analysis and reporting skills
Excellent written and public communication and negotiation skills
Able to adjust to a lifestyle of frequent travel on the field
Humanitarian field experience
At least one year in emergency nutritional programs
Previous experience in program planning and implementation in large scale surveillance projects.
