What is your proposed G Movement athletic challenge?
My challenge is to complete the 5th Annual Colfax marathon in Denver Colorado on May 16. Although currently out of shape, with proper exercise and nutrition and a lot of heart, I know I can reach my goal.
I am also planning on doing the 21st Annual Bataan Death March with my son Jake, on March 21st. This is a 26.2 mile march through high desert terrain of White Sands Missle Range NM, in honor of the heroic service members who defended the Philippine Islands during World War II.
Why do you think it is important to bring attention to the issues of global hunger? Why were you motivated to participate in G Movement?
We live in a country where food is in abundance, and with that we take for granted, that there are those who have none. We do not concern ourselves with that, that we do not see. So it is EXTREMLY important for us to get involved and get the word out to educate those who are not aware of the extent of global hunger.
I find it heart breaking to think of children and their families without food or clean water to drink. We must never give up hope or loose faith in humanity to come together.
As a mother of three sons, I believe I can reach deep down to find the faith, hope, strength & determination to push myself to complete this marathon. I will do this in the fight against global hunger, and pray that along this journey, that I may inspire others to do their part.
How would a $2,000 grant enable you to complete your challenge?
If awarded this grant, I would use the money toward proper running shoes and nutrition. If approved, I would also like to hold a run/walk at my sons elementary school, as well as talk to the children and bring awareness in the fight against global hunger.
