What is your proposed G Movement athletic challenge?
Hello, my name is Jake Underwood and I am a 14 year old boy. My challenge is the Bataan Death March which is a 26.2 mile march. The reason I have chosen this is because my great grandpa's brother George Torrez was in the actual march and sadly died. I would like like to honor his name though by doing this march.
Why do you think it is important to bring attention to the issues of global hunger? Why were you motivated to participate in G Movement?
I believe it is very important to bring attention to the issues of global hunger because a lot of people go without and they cry out to us. If you really start to think about it, if you even only donate 10 dollars that could help a boy or girl greatly and they would love it; but if you didn't then you would probably spend that money on a pizza that might last you the night. Several things motivated me to join; one of those things is my family is sponsoring a little boy named Jeremia and because he is less fortunate then we are, he goes hungry sometimes but by sponsoring him he gets more food and things he needs to get by.
How would a $2,000 grant enable you to complete your challenge?
It would help a lot. It would help get me a nice running shirt, some running shorts, a nice pair of running shoes, leg weights, and finally, a good camel pack for water on the go when I'm running. I also would like to raise more money for Action Against Hunger for the purpose of helping out even more starving families out there and this grant would help put adds in the paper, and also putting fliers up in town.
