Individual Honoree 2011:

Dr. Hans Rosling
Professor Of International Health, Karolinska Institutet

We are proud to present the 2011 Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award to Hans Rosling, in recognition of his long-standing commitment to improving global public health. Dr. Hans Rosling is a Professor of International Health at Karolinska Institute and co-founder of Gapminder Foundation. Action Against Hunger is proud honor Dr. Rosling for his longstanding commitment to improving global public health and for his groundbreaking work on konzo. ACF applauds his engaging and award-winning lectures on global trends that have challenged audiences to reevaluate their world views.

Corporate Honoree 2011:

Tyco International
Presented to Patrick Decker, President, Tyco Flow Control

In response to the global water crisis, Tyco International has partnered with Action Against Hunger to launch the Clean Water Access Initiative to provide safe drinking water and sanitation to impoverished communities threatened by malnutrition and water-borne diseases. Tyco has committed more than $2 million in resources over the next three years, as well as emergency funds to enable ACF to respond quickly to natural disasters, including earthquake-ravaged Haiti, flood-inundated Pakistan, and more recently, drought-stricken Kenya. We are proud to present the 2011 Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award to Tyco International for their innovative partnership.

Action Against Hunger is also proud to present Peter Ayii Kon with its annual Staff of the Year award for his commitment to ACF’s mission and our life-saving work. Peter is this year’s recipient for his invaluable contributions to our work in the Republic of South Sudan. A dedicated humanitarian and cherished colleague, Peter is proud to represent ACF-South Sudan in receiving this year’s award.
