Les Maîtres Cuisiniers de France & A Taste of France at the Food Emporium

The US Chapter of the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France kick-started the two-week promotion of A Taste of France at the Food Emporium, showcasing new and exclusive items of over 30 French delicacies in 18 of its Manhattan locations through March 11th, 2010.
Celebrating French cuisine, tastings at the launch of the two-week promotion of A Taste of France at the Food Emporium were prepared by Jean-Louis Gerin of Restaurant Jean-Louis (Greenwich, CT) and Claude Godard of Madison Bistro (NYC). Chef Jean-Louis Gerin and Chef Claude Godard are 2 representatives of the US Chapter of the Maîtres Cuisiniers de France ("Master Chef of France"). Created over 60 years ago, this international organization preserves and spreads the French culinary arts, encourages training in cuisine and assists professional development.
The Maîtres Cuisiniers de France are donating their stipend from this kick-off event toward Action Against Hunger | ACF-International’s work benefitting survivors of the earthquake in Haiti.
A Taste of France at the Food Emporium is organized by SOPEXA, the representative of the French Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries in the US, The Food Emporium and The Greater Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P). French wines represent 70% of the USA's French agricultural import, with only 30% being French food related. A Taste of France at the Food Emporium is bringing the focus back to the heritage of French foods.
