World Food Day Gala 2008

Action Against Hunger is honoring Anderson Cooper, award-winning journalist and CNN Anchor, for his outstanding coverage of humanitarian crises and his in-depth reporting on issues related to world hunger at its 9th Annual Benefit Gala in New York City (read the press release).
Proceeds from the evening support Action Against Hunger's efforts to save the lives of malnourished children while providing families with sustainable access to safe water and long-term solutions to hunger.
Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award
Each year, the Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award is presented to an individual who has made a notable contribution to the humanitarian field.
Previous recipients of the Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award include Nobel Laureates President Nelson Mandela (’04) and Archbishop Desmond Tutu (’05), as well as Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon (’06), Academy Award-nominee Terry George ('07) and the Pulitzer Prize-winning author Frank McCourt (’02).
