Action Against Hunger is excited to announce its Eighth Annual Benefit Gala, to be held on November 7, 2007 at Capitale. The 2007 Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award will be given to Academy nominated filmmaker Terry George.
This Award recognizes those individuals who have made a notable contribution to the humanitarian field, whether through their direct efforts, their philanthropic support, or their help in raising public awareness. Past honorees have included, among others, Nelson Mandela, Frank McCourt, Susan Sarandon, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
Gala Co-Chairs Cristina Enriquez-Bocobo and Alexis & René-Pierre Azria, along with Honorary Chairs Christy Turlington Burns and Sabrina Dupré, and Vice-Chairs Kathleen Begala, Ketty Pucci-Sisti Maisonrouge, and Wendy Weiler have planned a wonderful evening for all participants. Chef Andrew Gold of The Institute of Culinary Education as well as Chef Michael Anthony and Pastry Chef Nancy Olson from Gramercy Tavern, will help Capitale Executive Chef Osvaldo Garrido create a memorable meal. Cameroonian singer Kaïssa will provide special entertainment, and our auction will be lead by Jamie Niven, Vice Chairman of Sotheby’s North & South America.
Proceeds from the evening will provide much-needed support for our programs in Africa and Asia. Last year’s gala raised over $1,000,000, and we hope that you’ll join us in making the 2007 Benefit Gala an even greater success!
