Action Against Hunger is internationally recognized as a leader in the fight against global malnutrition. Action Against Hunger works to save the lives of malnourished children while providing communities with access to safe water and sustainable solutions to hunger. With over 30 years of expertise in emergency situations of conflict, natural disaster, and chronic food insecurity, Action Against Hunger runs life-saving programs in some 40 countries benefiting 5 million people each year.
West Bank, Gaza
Thousands of people experienced water shortages in the southern West Bank as a result of unusually low rainfall and soaring prices in 2009. Action Against Hunger improved access to clean water and sanitation for families spending up to 30% of their income to buy water, improving economic security and curbing the spread of water-borne illness for over 12,500 people.
Syria
Action Against Hunger has worked in Syria since 2008, supporting local and refugee populations through food security programs designed to reduce hunger by ensuring access to food and generating income.
Since the outbreak of hostilities in 2011, our teams have ramped up emergency programs in response to the growing flow of refugees into neighboring countries – providing water, sanitation and hygiene support, distributing emergency hygiene kits, and building latrines for thousands of displaced families.
