Our Impact in 2012

In this season of holiday cheer, I’m happy to report that your support has helped millions of people this year. We’ve reached more than 7 million individuals in 40+ countries with lifesaving, life-changing interventions and we absolutely, unequivocally couldn’t have done that without you.
Here is just a snapshot of some of your money at work:
- 550,000 People on the Path to Self-Sufficiency: In countries such as Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, D.R. Congo and Pakistan, we helped small farmers retool after a drought or displacement and communities develop productive assets, bolster food production, and generate income.
- 42,000 Young Lives Saved in D.R. Congo: Our teams trained thousands of health workers, equipped hundreds of hospitals and health centers, and provided lifesaving therapeutic care for tens of thousands of severely malnourished children.
- 36,000 Severely Malnourished Treated in Nigeria: We tripled the number of children we treated in Nigeria this year—from 12,000 cases in 2011 to 36,000 young lives saved in 2012. With some of the highest malnutrition levels in the world, we’re ramping up our programs as quickly as we can.
- 662,000 Gain Access to Clean Water, Sanitation, & Hygiene Services: We slashed waterborne disease rates in countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda, South Sudan, D.R. Congo and Pakistan by providing access to clean water, building sanitation facilities, and training communities on hygiene.
We’re proud of our 2012 impact and wish to thank you for being such a big part of our success. We hope you’ll consider making a year-end gift to ensure that more lives are saved in 2013. And don’t forget, you can always learn more about our reach and impact by exploring our website, subscribing to our blog, and following us on Twitter and Facebook.
