A seasoned Human Resources professional with more than a decade of experience in humanitarian contexts, Kathryn Andersen leads Action Against Hunger’s US-based HR team. She brings expertise in team, talent, and human resource management, facilitation and instructional skills, and administrative and financial acumen to her role, which she’s held for the past two years.
Prior to joining Action Against Hunger, Ms. Andersen spent nearly 10 years in multiple human resource leadership positions with international NGO, Médecins Sans Frontières, known in the US as Doctors Without Borders. Her tenure included international assignments in more than 12 countries including Ethiopia, Pakistan, and South Sudan. Today, she oversees the recruitment and management of all New York HQ staff and international staff in ACF-USA missions, leads the development of ACF-USA HR policies and procedures, and manages the New York-based HR team. She also sits on the organization’s Senior Management Team, guiding Action Against Hunger’s strategic direction.
In addition to her responsibilities in New York, Ms. Andersen also oversees the Regional Training Center (RTC) in Nairobi, Kenya, which develops and delivers learning and development activities to staff in ACF-USA missions. A native of Australia, she holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Adelaide, and a Master of Policy Studies from the University of New South Wales.
